Chile launched new digital ID cards and passports featuring local highlights and Braille on 16 December 2024. The new, fully-integrated National Identification System begins to operate today throughout Chile and in our consulates abroad, with a new digital identity card and passport. Current identity cards and passports will remain valid until their expiration date. It is therefore not mandatory to renew these documents if they are up to date.
