In 2017, the University of Melbourne became the first in Australia to pilot blockchain-based credentials. Partnering with blockchain startup Learning Machine, the university issued digital testamurs that could be verified instantly and independently by employers. The project helped lay the groundwork for broader adoption across the sector and proved that digital diplomas could solve very real problems, from document fraud to inefficient international validation.
